Global primary aluminum production reached 5.685 million tons in February, marking a 0.9% year-on-year increase.

According to the latest data released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum production totaled 5.685 million metric tons in February 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. The report further indicates that global daily average output stood at 203,000 metric tons during the month.

When excluding China and unreported regions, the rest of the world contributed 2.07 million metric tons, with a daily average production rate of 73,900 metric tons. This marginal uptick in primary metal supply reflects a relatively stable operating environment for smelters globally, despite ongoing fluctuations in energy costs and logistical adjustments.

For downstream manufacturers specializing in aluminum plate, sheet, bar, tube, and precision machining, the sustained growth in primary aluminum output is a critical indicator of raw material availability. The slight increase in production volumes—particularly in regions outside of China—suggests a balanced supply chain, which is essential for maintaining consistent lead times and cost predictability for value-added processing.

As the market continues to digest regional disparities in energy policy and production capacity, the steady global output reinforces the foundation for downstream sectors engaged in extrusion, rolling, and CNC machining. For companies integrating aluminum semi-finished products into complex assemblies, this data supports strategic inventory planning and supply chain stability in the months ahead.
